Get In My Kitchen! Williams Sonoma Deluxe Angled Potato Ricer

img9m.jpg

If you are anything like me, you have had your Thanksgiving Day menu planned since early July. I may change the side dishes and my turkey cooking method from year to year, but one menu item remains a constant - freshly mashed potatoes.

Mashed potatoes may not be the best title, since I don't really mash them. I have learned after countless batches of them that the most foolproof method for the fluffiest, lightest potatoes is to employ the use of a potato ricer, and then stir in cream and butter with a wire whisk. Until this year, I have gotten by with a stainless steel potato ricer purchased at a discount store, but this new item from William Sonoma may have me adding a new item to my repertoire this Turkey Day.

The Deluxe Angled Potato Ricer may appear to be just your everyday potato ricer, but with one special added feature - it is perforated on all sides, making it far more efficient at its task than my traditional ricer. Is it worth the $32 price tag? If it saves me time on that one day of the year when I never have enough, it just may be.
