Waiter, I'd Like to See the Root Beer List...

root-beer-float.jpg

There is a new trend in some swanky New York City eateries and watering holes, and no ID is required.

Root Beer is popping up on the menus of some of the Big Apple's most notable restaurants. Ssam Bar, the mid-tier restaurant in David Chang's mini-empire, now features a drink menu devoted entirely to the frothy non-alcoholic brew. Yoguruto, a new-fangled frozen yogurt shop in Soho is now serving a new "Root Beer" flavor, and Park Slope's upscale beer bar, Beer Table, has added a Sprecher Root Beer Float to their menu, made with Malt Gelato.

This trend is good news to those of us who have always been fans of the old-timey soda, and a smart move for restaurant's looking to raise the price point on non-alcoholic bevvies.
